Rachel began her professional career at 14 when she tapped her way into Bugsy Malone in the West End, with renowned choreographer Gillian Gregory. Following that she trained at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art which was a classical theatre drama school, but also known for its singing training and dance! Her career then kicked off with a season at Regents Park Open Air theatre where she performed in 2 shakespeare plays and a musical (where she taught Roy Hudd to tap dance!) This was generally the sign of things to come, as she continued to tour the country in a wide variety of Classical Plays, Musical Theatre, TV, West End Children’s Shows and Physical Theatre. One of her her favourite roles was playing Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz for 2 years on a number one tour, alongside Brian Blessed, Peter Duncan, and Toyah. She has been dancing with Drew Wood for the last 15 years, performing alongside him in the live semi-finals of Britains Got Talent with all our other fabulous tappers.She is delighted to have taken over the reigns from Grand Master Taps (aka Drew) and looks forward to continuing his legacy of superb adult tap in Brighton, whilst building Ducky Shincrackers into a dance & yoga studio that everyone loves.
Collette’s background is in musical theatre, having trained from a young age in the disciplines of ballet, tap, modern and stage craft with the ISTD and IDTA. After performing in her teens and early 20’s, she qualified as a teacher of dance with the ISTD Examinations Board (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing). She currently teaches ballet to adults in Portslade, Brighton and Worthing including teaching dance to people suffering from Parkinson’s disease. She also choreographs and directs musicals in the East Sussex area. Professional experience: Director and Choreographer: Jesus Christ Superstar, Sister Act and Annie. Choreographer: Crazy for You, Pirates of Penzance, Kiss me Kate, Remember! Remember!, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Producers, Made in Dagenham, Farndale Mikado, Red, Hot and Cole, Evita, Hairspray, Oliver! and My Fair Lady. Dancer: Crazy for You, Oklahoma, Music Man, White Horse Inn, various pantomimes and cabaret troupes.
Katie Fletcher is a certified Principal Sleek Technique Instructor. She studied dance at the Arts Educational School and Central School of Ballet in London before dancing professionally with the Northern Ballet Theatre. She then transferred into professional musical theatre where she performed lead roles within the West End, National Tours and Fringe Theatre. She has taught ballet, dance and drama within schools and various creative arts establishments. Katie is passionate about encouraging adults to access ballet through fitness exercises, developing strength, tone and flexibility. Enjoy some ballerina moments and get fit gracefully!
